Gazillion Movies Review :
Whale Rider is the story of a Maori tribe in a small coastal town in New Zealand. There is a man at the top of each generation, called Whale Rider. When a twin is born, the mother and her son dies but daughter Pai (Keisha Catle-Hughes) stays alive. For the current tribe chief Koro (Rawiri Paratene) it is unacceptable that a woman will become the new leader. For this reason he goes in search within the tribe for a boy who can take this role upon himself. Pai loves her grandfather unbelievably much, but nevertheless she does something that doesn’t please him. She wants to prove him anyhow that she really can become the new tribe chief, even if this is in contrast with thousands of years of traditions...
