Gazillion Movies Review :
1958. The British rural estate Darlington Hall threatens to disappear, but then a former congress member from the US buys it. He keeps butler James Stevens (Anthony Hopkins) and the cook (Paula Jacobs). Stevens gets a letter of the former housekeeper Mary Kanton (Emma Thompson) and decides to visit her at the West Coast. By means of flashbacks we see how the friendship between Stevens and Kanton has arisen, and which important political cases has taken place on the rural estate.
