Gazillion Movies Review :
Around 1660 Edward 'Ned' Kynaston is the most celebrated actress of the United Kingdom. It is, as it happens, forbidden for women to perform on stage. Ned makes profit out of this by using his beauty and because he can give a convincing rendition of female roles. King Charles II is tired of seeing each time again the same artists in the same tragedies. Because nobody takes his suggestions to brighten "Othello" up with a couple of good joke seriously, the King decides to make the royal plays more interesting by letting real women play in it. This is good news for the brutal mistress of the King. For Ned however this news hits him hard. From one day to the next he is of no importance again until the rising star Maria decides to make a man out of Ned again.
