Gazillion Movies Review :
The 11-years-old Akeelah (Keke Palmer) grows up in the ghetto of south L.A. and has a brio for language. In spite of her mother’s (Angela Bassett) disagreement, Akeelah registers herself for a spelling contest. With the help of the mysterious Dr. Larabee (Laurence Fishburne), her brio brings her to the national spelling finals, world’s largest spellings event. Her success ensures a feeling of pride in her neighborhood and the people around her, what brings them more closely to each other.
