Movie Plot : Documentary, in which director Kirby Dick tries to explain the American film rating system of the MPAA-organization, specially set up for this purpose. Dick not only substantiates that this organization is in the hands of the big studios, but also has a big influence on the culture of America by showing certain things and others not. A homosexual scene for example is tackled harder than a similar heterosexual scene and sex in the general is treated more puritanical then violence scenes.

Movie Plot : In San Francisco the highest skyscraper in the world was built: a glass tower of 138 floors. When designing the building, everything was thought over: office spaces, residential flats, a restaurant, a nightclub and a heliport at the roof. On the official opening of the 135th floor, architect Doug Roberts (Paul Newman) is clearly less enthusiast about the construction then contractor Jim Duncan (William Holden). Also fire commander Michael O'Hallorhan (Steve McQueen) is looking to the glass tower with suspicion. He knows that his troops impossibly can reach the upper floors in case of a fire, although he has to proof the opposite. During the ceremony fire breaks out at the 81st floor. The fire is spreading rapidly...

Movie Plot : British war prisoners get the task of the Japanese to build a bridge in a jungle in Asia during the Second World War. Under the guidance of Colonel Nicholson the prisoners gain a moral victory over the Japanese by taking the rains at building in their own hands. What they however do not know is that an allied mission is planned to destroy the bridge.

Movie Plot : Joe Gillis (William Holden), a script writer who is bankrupt, hides for his creditors in the garage of a house which looks deserted. The house however proves to be the house of Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson), a retired movie star. Joe moves in at her place, and at the same time tries to re-write Norma’s hopeless “comeback" - screenplay. Weeks pass by, and Joe gets more and more isolated from the outside world.
