Movie Plot : Bittered by the dead of his mother, the loner Zack Mayo (Richard Gere) decides to follow an officer training at the Port Rainier marine base. During the very hard training he makes friends with Sid Worley (David Keith) , a boy who is in the army to keep the family tradition in honor. They meet Paula (Debra Winger) and Lynette (Lisa Blount) , two factory workers who hope to start an affair with an officer to get out of the rut.
