Movie Plot : Henry (Billy Crudup), a writer of children books is forced by his editor Arthur (Bob Balaban) to cancel his normal cooperation with an illustrator (Tom Wilkinson). Instead, he has to work together with a female colleague (Mandy Moore). This however does not go without problems.

Initially it seems to be an innocent investigation, but pretty quickly it takes an unexpected turn: an intense and complicated relation arises between the writer and the two condemned killers, Dick Hickock (Lee Pace) and in particular Perry Smith (Daniel Graig). The duo at that time is at death row and awaits their death penalty. All this inspires him to write his book 'In Cold Blood'.
