Movie Plot : Harlem, 1934. The big depression. The 'Queen' earns her money with placing bets and lotteries. When the white gangster Dutch Schultz (Tim Roth) realizes how much money can be earned with it, he tries to take over the business. Bumpy Johnson (Laurence Fishburne) put a stop to this, firstly as her bodyguard, later as her biggest confidant. When the 'Queen' has to go to prison, Bumby takes over business, his regime gets a Robin Hood kind of reputation when he gives a part of the earned money back to the poor black population. Pretty fast he meets Dutch Schultz back on his path. Whereas bloodsheds are getting more common between the both gangsters, Lucky Luciano (Andy Garcia) tries to bring both parties together. When Schultz however commits an attack on Bumpy and his girlfriend, a deadly and violent gang war seems to be inevitable.
