Movie Plot : Carter (Adam Brody ) is a Los Angeles scriptwriter, who travels to Michigan to spend some time in a suburb over there. Here he can recover from his broken romance and at the same time look after his sick granny. After a time however, he ends up in a relation with both a mother and her daughter, who lives at the other side of the street.

Movie Plot : The movie is a triptych, with Aids as central topic. The story starts in South Africa, where three nuns are operative in an Aids-clinic. They consider it as their task to convert the Africans, who are dying of Aids, to Catholicism before their souls will be lost. In the meantime Jin Ping (Lucy Liu) is busy in China to set up a mobile centre for blood donations, somewhere in a small borough. The inhabitants of the borough earn a nice pocket money by donating their blood and thus are glad with the initiative of Jin Ping. Afterwards the wife and daughter of one of the local farmers dies in a mysterious way and shortly afterwards also the largest part of the remaining inhabitants of the borough gets the strange sickness.... Jin Ping and her mobile centre went up in smoke. Finally the story continues in Northern-America, where Denny (Shawn Ashmore) , an inferior porn actor, endures his monthly HIV-tests by using blood samples of someone else, until one day it goes wrong and he is caught.

Movie Plot : The female public prosecutor Nick Di Vivo (Parker Posey) tries to find out what is the reason of the many suicides, which take place in New York nowadays. One of it concerns the HIV infected Matt Shapiro (Don McKellar). The stayed behind mother (Olympia Dukakis) and friends don’t want to tell anything or just a bit to officer Di Vivo, who however finds out that the cocktail of medecines which Matt swallowed, slowly lost its impact. Entirely according to the American law Di Vivo finds that suicide offers no solution and that euthanasia is a crime. Eventual Di Vivo gets a tape in her hands on which Matt’s farewell party (' the event ') have been fixed. But more than the video material it shows the boundless love of Matts mother with the real choice between good and bad to the strict public prosecutor.

Movie Plot : The young Vincenzo Cortino (Lloyd Bridges), son of a Sicilian mailman, delivers a parcel for his father and accidentally sees something he shouldn’t have seen. He is smuggled out of the city and tries to reach a ship to America. Once arrived there, Vincenzo climbs the social ladder of the Mafia, all the way to the top. The Dons of the other families want to get rid of Don Cortino however.

Movie Plot : Tess (Melanie Griffith) is a secretary who wants to climb the professional ladder. She starts working for the successful business woman Katherine (Sigourney Weaver) who appreciates Tess' business ideas and insights a lot and promises her that if she continues this way, she wants to help Tess to make a career. But during a skiing vacation Katherine breaks her leg, and so Tess finds out that Katherine steals her ideas and takes the credit for it.
