Movie Plot : In the neighbourhood of the central station of Rio de Janeiro, Dora (Fernanda Montenegro), a former teacher of almost sixty, makes her money with writing letters for illiterate migrants. Ana (Soia Lira) and her young son are some of her poor customers. The boy never has seen his father and he hopes to track him down thanks to the written letters. Some days later Ana and Josué (Vinícius de Oliveira) return to Dora to write another letter because they didn’t get an answer on the first one. When leaving however, Ana is hit by a bus and she dies in front of her son. Left to his own devices and without means of existence, Josué roams around in the station. There he only knows Dora. Insensitive to the confusion of the boy at first, she eventually is prepared to cross the complete country to help him to find his father. In busses and trucks, through unknown regions, they undertake a fascinating trip: an excursion in search for the own heart.
