Movie Plot : 'Once Were Warriors' is the story of a deprived family at the most dirty border of the city. It is that part of the city where the work of a social worker only is a drop in the ocean, where unemployment dominates; people lost the view on improvement and seek solace in drink and drugs. He, who can’t keep going on in such an environment, is a victim. The hard rules in this urban jungle also apply to the family of Beth (Rena Owen) and Jake (Temuera Morrison). Beth is a proud woman with Maori-blood who is thrown back deeper after each attempt she undertakes to get her family out of this situation, whereas Jake reconcile to the facts and makes everything even more worse because of his drinking problems and aggression.
