Movie Plot : Manchester 1976: Tony Wilson (Steve Coogan), graduated at Cambridge and visits a concert of the Sex Pistols. Inspired by this important moment in musical history they start a record label, 'Factory Records'. The first band they contract is Joy Division (which later on goes on as the New Order). Other bands follow, and all of them are authoritative artists for their time. What follows is a story about music, sex, drugs, rock stars and the birth of one of the best-known clubs in the world, 'The Hacienda', similar to 'studio 54'. This comedy shows what was going on in the field of music in Manchester, starting from the ending of the seventies up to and including the beginning of the nineties.
