Movie Plot : When a politician buys up a newspaper, fresh air is brought into the editorial staff and the new head editor dismisses a lot of employees. Begging to stay doesn’t help the columnist (Barbara Stanwyck). As a last contribution she sends in a made up letter of an unemployed man, John Doe, who threatens to jump of the city tower out of protest against the politics which doesn’t do anything about unemployment. It is a political bomb during campaign time, but she gets her job back to hire a John Doe (Gary Cooper), who can ensure big headlines and commits suicide just at Christmas.
